Rovers V Wexford - Team news

Sligo Rovers finish the 2016 season with a game against Wexford Youths at The Showgrounds.

The 2016 SSE Airtricity League season will conclude this Friday night, the game kicks-off at 7:45pm.

The Bit o’Red have a 100% record against Wexford Youths in the two league games so far.

Previously at The Showgrounds in May Rovers earned a 4-1 victory in the first ever game between the clubs.

Following that when visiting Wexford Rovers picked up the win with a 5-0 score.

The loss to Derry City last weekend ended a run of five clean sheets in a row with wins in the last two.

This game sees a battle to finish fifth between Rovers and St. Patrick’s Athletic. The Saints are one point behind going into the final weekend when they play Derry City.

Liam Martin and Raff Cretaro will be suspended for the second game in a row.

Achille Campion is Rovers' only other potential absentee as he faces a late fitness test on an achilles tendon injury he picked up a few weeks ago.

Speaking ahead of Friday's tie, Robertson said his team are looking to end the current campaign on a high: "Our main aim tomorrow is to finish off the season in front of our own fans with a strong performance. We will be looking to take the three points.

"We've enjoyed a particularly good second half to the season. We're in fifth position and we know that three points on Friday will consolidate that spot. I am expecting nothing short of a positive performance and a win to see us into next year."

Shane Keegan's outfit go into the game with their position in the relegation/promotion play-off place already confirmed. They now face into games against either Drogheda or Cobh in an attempt to retain their Premier Division status. Robertson says he does not expect Youths to take this game lightly despite the first leg taking place just three days later.

"We approach every single game expecting the opposition to play the strongest team possible. Myself personally, if I was going into a big play-off game like Wexford are I would want to play a strong team and give them the opportunity to go into next week's games by playing them on Friday night. To try and instill some positivity and confidence.

"We will approach this one as if they are bringing their strongest squad. I don't listen to too much rumor and speculation so we'll be making sure we focus on our own performance and do our utmost to take all three points."

Rovers are offering free admission to all kids under the age of 12 when accompanied by a paying adult.
