Ballinamallard United 0-4 Rovers

Sligo Rovers continued their pre-season preparation with a commanding 4-0 win over Ballinamallard United at Ferney Park. 
 
Kieran Sadlier, Matty Stevens, John Russell and Mikey Place were on target for the Bit O'Red as Rovers registered their second win of the year. 
 
The game also saw a first appearance for new loanee Jonah Ayunga who replaced Raff Cretaro on the hour.  
 
Rovers went close to opening their account on the quarter hour. The lively Matty Stevens running just short of Regan Donelon's curling cross to the back post.
 
The away side took the lead on 17 as Dave Robertson's men took control. A wonderful piece of trickery on the right side from Sadlier saw the winger skip around Mallards full back David Elliot. The 22-year-old finding the bottom corner from the angle for his first goal of 2017. 
 
Captain Liam Martin scuffed his shot in front of goal shortly after while Russell came close to a second for Sligo eleven minutes from the break. The Galway man latching on to Sadlier's short fee-kick from the end line, however Russell's low drive narrowly avoided McGrath's front post with the keeper beaten. 
 
Stevens saw his shot blocked after trojan work from Daniel Kearns down left shortly before the break. 
 
The Bit O'Red made it two six minutes after the restart. Jacob Britton upending Cretaro inside the area. Stevens sending sub net minder Cameron Crawford the the wrong way. 
 
Russell got in on the act two minutes later as the League of Ireland side made it three without reply. The energetic midfielder firing home from long range. 
 
While Place completed the rout on 63 with a close range finish.
