Sligo Super Cup Draw

The Sligo Super Cup was launched this evening in Sligo City Hall, where members of the first team attended along with first team manager Dave Robertson.

The draw for the tournament also took place which was broadcasted live on Ocean FM. The hosts, Sligo/Leitrim, were drawn in Group B, alongside Celtic, Linfield & DDSL.

The event takes place in The Showgrounds, from April 28th-30th.

This event has been described as a huge opportunity for the youth of Sligo and Leitrim to showcase their talent on the football pitch against some glamour sides from both the UK and Ireland. Other teams participating in the eight team tournament are Sheffield Wednesday, NDSL, Club NI and Mayo.

We are delighted to be able to hold and facilitate this wonderful event, with games taking place on the main pitch in The Showgrounds and also on the clubs astro pitch. We look forward to welcoming all of the participating teams to Sligo for the tournament.

The Cup wil be a 9v9 event for players in the under-12 age group.

The tournament, the first of its kind ever staged in the county, will feature the future soccer stars of tomorrow while also showcasing the tremendous facilities at the Sean Fallon Centre at The Showgrounds.

Each team will play a maximum of four game over the three days, and with squads of up to 16 players as well as coaches, parents and supporters, the tournament will generate an influx of visitors for the May Bank Holiday week-end.

There are also plans for a range of associated activities designed to make the weekend a memorable festival of football.
