The Sligo Rovers A team will compete in Pool 1 of the A Championship. Below is the squad for the A team for the season.
Paul Devins: Age 18, Preferred Foot: Right, former Clubs: Strand Celtic
Paul is a defender who likes to play out from the back, with good vision for a pass which suits the side’s style of play. He was a member of the FAI Football training course in Castlebar in 2010.
Justin Curran, Age: 20, Preferred Foot: Right, Former Clubs: Glenview Stars
Justin joined the club at the start of the 2010 campaign and plays at right back, and can also play in midfield. He was a member of the FAS training course in Sligo until last summer.
Conor Davey: Age: 19, Preferred Foot: Left, Former Clubs: Ballisadare United
The versatile Davey played all across the back four last season and also on the left hand side of midfield. Conor is currently studying in Galway but last season nailed down a regular starting place in both under 20 and A sides.
Conor McNulty: Age: 19, Preferred Foot Right, Former Clubs: Finn Harps
A new addition to the squad, Conor comes in from Finn Harps where he was highly regarded. He is a student at IT Sligo and a member of the college men’s team.
Danny Keohane: Age: 22, Preferred Foot: Left, Former Clubs Finn Harps
Danny has been at the club for three years, breaking into the first team set up in 2009 and was a member of the European Squad in the Europa League. The Ballyshannon native is a key player in the squad and his experience of first team football has helped the younger players around him.
MIDFIELDERS:
Kevin Devaney : Age 20, Preferred Foot: Right, Former Clubs: Calry Bohemians.
Kevin has been part of the A team squad for the last two seasons. He is a skilful winger with pace and strength as well as an eye for goal.
Shane Brannigan: Age 23, Preferred Foot: Right, Former Clubs: Merville United
Shane has been involved with the A side for the past three seasons. He is one of the senior members of the squad, He can play all across the midfield, or in attack.
Kieran Brick: Age 19, Preferred foot: Right, Former Clubs: Manor Rangers
Kieran has been with the club the last two seasons. He is a ball playing midfielder who looks to get forward at every opportunity and impressed with some wonderful long distance goals last season.
Brendan Fitzsimons: Age 19, Preferred foot: Right, Former Clubs: St. Johns.
Brendan is a hard working, hard tackling midfielder who signed for the clubs under 20s last season and was part of the cup winning under-18 squad.
Gavin O'Dwyer: Age 23, Preferred foot: Right, Former Clubs: Strand Celtic, St. Johns
Gavin plays on the right of midfield and can also play at right back. He has been the creator of a number of Rovers’ goals over the last few seasons.
Barry O'Mahony: Age 18, Preferred foot Right, former clubs: Belvedere, Strand Celtic
Barry has re-signed for the A team after leaving last season to return to junior football. The former Ireland under-19 international was also involved in Paul Cook’s Setanta Cup squad last season.
Gavin Butler: Age: 19, Preferred Foot: Right, Former Clubs: MCR
Another member of the FAS training course in Sligo, former manager Steve Feeney signed Gavin at the start of last season. He is a fine passer of the ball and was a member of the under-18 squad which won the Connaught Cup last season.
STRIKERS:
Darragh Healy: Age 19, Preferred foot: Right, Former Clubs: Ballisadare United
Darragh is a big striker with a good goal scoring record since joining at the start of last season. He finished the side’s second highest scorer last season and will be hoping to continue that form this campaign.
Mark McGoldrick: Age 19, Preferred Foot: Right, Former Clubs: Merville United
Mark has had an impressive 2010 at the Showgrounds, finishing top scorer at A team level and also breaking into Paul Cook’s first team squad, where he scored his first goal against Monaghan United in the FAI Cup. He will be hoping to impress again this year and hold down a place in the first team squad.
Colin Feehily: Age 21, Preferred foot: Right, Former Clubs: Calry Bohs, Cartron United
Feehily finished top scorer for the under-20 side two seasons ago. He started last season with a knee injury keeping him sidelined for two months. He was mainly used as a substitute for the rest of the season, scoring a stoppage time winner in Castlebar to complete a 3-2 victory.
