The 22-year-old Ballina native signed for the club in early 2012 season having departed Ipswich Town. David is a tidy midfielder who is not afraid to get stuck in and developed over the course of 2012 to become a key member of the squad.
He scored his first goal for the club during a 3-0 win over Shamrock Rovers in May 2012.
Cawley was nominated for PFAI Young Player of the Year in the same year and was on standby for the Republic of Ireland U-21 squad.
He continued to be a key player in 2013 starting the first 21 league games and only missing two all season. He also finished as second highest scorer behind Anthony Elding.
