Sligo Football and Sports Development Society, trading as Sligo Rovers Football Club, is designated as an Approved Sports Body by Revenue with Games & Sports Tax reference number G.S.2830.
Sligo Showgrounds, the Club’s home stadium, is undergoing substantial redevelopment. This project is designated as an Approved Sports Project (reference R-11-34-01) under the same Revenue rules.
This means if a taxpayer makes a donation of at least €250 to the Sligo Showgrounds redevelopment project in any tax year then income tax relief can be obtained.
An individual donating at least €250 in the tax year can claim tax relief themselves or donate the tax relief to Sligo Rovers.
In accordance with the Revenue rules all donations (including the tax relief) will be applied in full to the stadium redevelopment project.
Here is what you have to do:
If you are an individual taxpayer, including a person who pays income tax under self-assessment, are making a donation to the project, and also wish to donate the income tax relief available on your donation:
- Make a bank transfer of the amount you are donating to Sligo Football and Sports Development Society Ltd., Churchill, Sligo IBAN IE74AIBK93725869181065. Please show your name and address on the bank transfer record.
- Complete Approved Certificate form SPR1 here and post this to Sligo Showgrounds Development Project, Sligo Rovers Football Club, Churchill, Sligo, Ireland.
- If you would like to receive an email confirming receipt of your donation please contact us on stadiumdevelopment@sligorovers.com.
- Using your form SPR1, Sligo Rovers will then claim the income tax relief from Revenue.

- Make a bank transfer of the donation amount including the tax relief to Sligo Football and Sports Development Society Ltd., Churchill, Sligo IBAN IE74AIBK93725869181065. Please show your name and address on the bank transfer record.
- If you would like to receive an email confirming receipt of your donation please contact us on stadiumdevelopment@sligorovers.com.
- If you pay your income tax under the PAYE system, you can claim a deduction for the donation amount against your total income for the tax year using the Form 12 tax return form.
- If you are a self-assessed taxpayer, you can claim a deduction for the donation amount against your total income for the tax year using the Form 11 tax return form.

- To help you decide on the amount your company intends to donate (must be a minimum of €250) you can calculate the amount of the tax relief your company is eligible to receive – this table provides some quick reference examples:

- Sligo Rovers cannot claim tax relief on donations from a company.
